About the SepGuide™ Plan

Why was the SepGuide™ Plan created?

The SepGuide™ Plan was developed using over 3.5 years of research findings and millions of anonymised data points to understand how people separate in Australia. As the leading provider for separation support in the country, The Separation Guide has developed an evidence-backed separation support program that delivers better outcomes for individuals, their families and society.

Our research has shown that receiving early education and advice when you separate can reduce the stress, cost, and time to resolution, increase your well-being and minimise the impact on those around you.

The aim of this plan is to provide you with a support structure and crucial information throughout your separation, and to connect you to trusted professionals who can assist you in all the areas you need.

What is in the the SepGuide™ Plan?

The program includes access to our tailored Support Hub, a comprehensive resource centre that provides step-by-step checklists, tools and information and connects you to ethical, trusted professionals at a pace that suits you.

  • Your personal pathway: We’ve tailored your plan to suit you based on the information you gave us in your Q&A.
  • Centralised information: The Support Hub is your one-stop platform, putting your resources and professional recommendations in one place.
  • Step-by-step guidance: Checklists let you move through as quickly or as slowly as you need and track your progress.
  • Timely professional advice: Meeting providers after you’ve had the time to prepare helps you save time and cost.

SepGuide Plan Support Plus also includes four sessions with qualified professionals like lawyers, mediators, divorce coaches, separation support consultants and financial advisors to help you with your legal, financial and wellbeing needs.

Using your SepGuide™ Plan

What is a session?

A session is a meeting with a separation professional. You have four sessions included in your Support Plus SepGuide™ Plan.

What professional services can I book?

Your included sessions cover:

  • one session with either a family lawyer or a legally qualified mediator
  • three sessions with other professionals in our network, including separation consultants, financial advisors, divorce coaches, mortgage brokers and child support consultants.
Why can’t I find professionals in all of my Service Pages?

We show you professional services based on the answers you gave us in your Q&A. For example, if you shared that you have children, we recommend services for parents.

We also recommend services based on your recommended pathway. For example, if your situation indicates Guided Separation is your best path, you will see a mediator rather than a lawyer.

If you need professional services that are not listed on your personal Support Hub, get in touch for a chat with us, and we can connect you.

How many times can I book with each service provider?

Some services, such as legal representation or financial modelling, can only be booked once. After your initial session, you can engage the professionals directly.

Other services can be booked more than once through your SepGuide™ Plan. These include separation support and divorce coaching for ongoing practical and emotional support.

Do I need to check off all the plan items before I book a session?

No. We designed the content in your Plans to support and inform you and help you prepare to meet professionals so you can get the most out of your meeting.

We recommend that you read and listen to the resources to get clarity on your rights and obligations and understand the options available to you.

But you can book sessions whenever you are ready.  When you do, you may be prompted to provide some extra details that will allow the professional to give you meaningful advice.

What is a token?

When you are on a SepGuide™ Plan with Support Plus, you can access four sessions with separation professionals to help you make progress on your matter. There is a token for each session.

You have four session tokens. You can see these on your Bookings page on your Support Hub.

In what order should I book my sessions?

Every situation is unique, so there is no right order in which to use your tokens.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and need some clarity on how best to approach your journey, we recommend you start with a one-hour Separation Support session to share your situation, receive practical next steps and find out the best way forward to proceed with your tokens to get the most value from them.

Think of this session as similar to visiting the GP, who can treat some things and will refer you to a specialist when necessary. An expert and empathetic separation consultant can assess your circumstances, prescribe a course of action for your immediate needs, and refer you to qualified specialists for each aspect of your separation journey.

Alternatively, you may choose a more self-guided approach and work through your SepGuide™ Plan on your Support Hub, educating yourself and choosing which professionals you would like to book with and when you are ready.

How long do I have to use my tokens?

Your tokens can be used for 12 months from the date you begin your SepGuide™ Plan.

What is the cancellation policy?

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy for meetings with professionals. You will be reminded of the booking 28 hours before and 1 hour before.

If something comes up outside 24 hours and you cannot attend a scheduled session, you can reschedule via Calendly. You will find links to do this in your booking notification emails.

If you need to cancel your booking, you must notify the professional via the online Calendly cancellation option. This will notify the professional and also update your SepGuide™ Plan.

If cancellation occurs within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment, you will forgo your booking.

To get the most from your sessions, you are required to complete the Intake Form before your session. This provides current and up-to-date information for the professional and allows them to give you advice during the session. You will receive this form by email after you book.

How much notice do I need to give to reschedule or cancel an appointment?

Our professionals require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule.

If I cancel an appointment, do I keep my token?

The professionals in our network have high hourly rates and require notice to fill an appointment if it is canceled.

If you book a session and cancel it more than 24 hours before the scheduled time, you retain your token for another day.

If you do not provide 24 hours notice prior to a scheduled appointment, you will forfiet the session and your token.

What if I leave my employer before my SepGuide™ Plan has finished?

Once you register for the SepGuide™ Plan, it is valid for 12 months, regardless of your employment status after that date. We honour all plans.

What happens if I don’t use all my tokens?

Tokens are non-refundable. If you do not use them within 12 months, your tokens are forfeited.

I have a another question.
